Diana, Registered Dental Hygienist, Clinical Assistant

“Dr. Phillips and Dr. Schmitt provide incredible care for both the patients and the staff. I am always motivated to learn from them and to help with patients’ needs. I enjoy being a part of our patients clinical appointments, as well as their routine hygiene visits.”

Diana grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Asheville with her family when she was 6 years old. She studied to be a Dental Assistant at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. Diana enjoys spending time with her husband, painting, and reading. She also enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, and snowboarding.

Kelly, Registered Dental Hygienist, Clinical Assistant

“I enjoy being a member of the Phillips & Schmitt team as we work together to educate, restore, and improve our patient’s oral health”.

Kelly was raised in Asheville and attended Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College for Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting. In her spare time, Kelly enjoys traveling near and far. She enjoys supporting the local Asheville scene, whether it’s a festival, restaurant or the beautiful outdoors.

Cindy, Practice Manager

“Overseeing the office operations to provide maximum efficiency and effectiveness and supporting the team to ensure top-quality patient satisfaction is my priority.”

Cindy moved to Asheville from the San Francisco Bay area where she attended Los Medanos College. She brings over 20 years of Management experience to the practice and ensures quality assurance, optimal efficiency, and operational integrity to support the strong relationships with our patients and staff. She enjoys hiking, travel, gardening and interior design.

Karen, Clinical Assistant and Denture Lab Technician

Karen has nearly 25 years of experience in dentistry, focused on dentures, and is a graduate of Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. A native of Haywood County, Karen volunteers at her church and spends free time gardening and hunting with her family.

Ann, Registered Dental Hygienist, Clinical Assistant

Ann joined the practice after graduating from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College as a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2004. Married with four kids, quality family time is very important to her. Whether it’s school-related activities, sports, hiking and biking, or church gatherings, she never stops!

Whitney, Dental Assistant

Whitney was born in Asheville and raised just west of Asheville, in Candler. She has been in the dental field since 2007, just after graduating high school. In her spare time, it is likely that you will find her with her family and friends! She enjoys the outdoors, eating, church, and a relaxing weekend at the lake!

Simon, Lab Technician

Simon was born and raised in a small town in Scott County, TN. Air Force trained in Dental Assisting and Hygiene, he then went on to be trained in the Dental Laboratory field with the Air Force. Simon is currently serving in the Air Force Guard.

“I have been a lab tech for over 16-years and feel very lucky to be in a field that I really enjoy! I am married to Ashly. We have three children with another one on the way! We are very happy to be living here in Asheville”.

Rhonda Joy, Treatment Coordinator

Rhonda Joy grew up in the Connecticut River Valley area and moved to the Asheville area after vacationing here for 20-years. She attended Middlesex College in CT and majored in Sociology/Psychology and then received her Dental Assisting certification at the University of Florida and completed 3 ½ years of Practice Management training. She brings 30-years of Clinical and Managerial experience to the practice. She enjoys gardening, photography, painting and hiking.

Lauren, Registered Dental Hygienist, Clinical Assistant

Lauren is a native of Candler and is proud to call the Blue Ridge Mountains home. She attended Asheville-Buncombe Technical College for Dental Hygiene. In her spare time Lauren enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Loretta, Sterilization Coordinator

“I wanted to make a career change while staying in the dental field and was so excited to discover the Sterilization Coordinator position at Phillips & Schmitt. It is a blessing to work with a professional, family friendly team.”

Loretta has been in the dental profession for 22 years. She has worked as a Dental Assistant for both a General Dentist and an Oral Surgeon. Loretta is married and has 2 sons, 2 dogs and 3 cats. She enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, walking, camping, and discovering new vacation spots, spending time with her sons and their wives or just relaxing at home with her fur babies.

Tamara, Scheduling Coordinator

From the moment our patients call to the end of their appointment, I strive to make everyone feel special during their time in our office”.

Tamara was born in South Bend, IN and raised in Tampa, FL. She moved to western North Carolina in 1991 where she began her dental career. She attended Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College for Dental Radiology and Dental Assisting. In recent years she’s bridged from assisting in the clinical part of the dental practice to assisting in the administrative department as the scheduling coordinator. Tamara is married to Jason and has one daughter, Gabriella. She is very active in her community, with All Souls Episcopal Church and with her family and friends. She loves the beach, the arts, music, her two cats and her dog, Tucker.
