Douglas Phillips, DDS
Dr. Phillips is a well-respected Asheville dentist and educator in the field of advanced restorative, cosmetic, and general dentistry. An honors graduate of the Baylor College of Dentistry, Dr. Phillips completed a General Practice Residency in the U.S. Air Force in 1980. After two years of service in the Air Force, he established a private practice in Arkansas and relocated to Asheville in 1998. Throughout his years in practice, Dr. Phillips has continually broadened his skills in aesthetic, restorative, and dental implant dentistry through completion of advanced courses to stay on the cutting edge of dental developments.

Dr. Phillips refined his skills in all phases of dental restorative care and prosthodontic dentistry by completing the of Mastery Level Courses at Spear Education, a nationally known training center for post graduate skills in advancements in prosthodontic, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry. Upon completion of all Mastery Level courses, Frank Spear, DDS MSD, founder and director of Spear Education, appointed Dr. Phillips as a visiting faculty mentor to his teaching staff. In addition to his full-time practice in Asheville, Dr. Phillips serves as a mentor for dentists who are involved in their post graduation education at The Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida.

Dr. Phillips has also completed extensive training in implant dentistry at the prestigious Misch Implant Institute and is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology. He is also a member of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Spear Faculty Study Club, the L. D. Pankey Alumni Association, the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society and the Buncombe County Dental Society.
As an Asheville sleep apnea specialist, Dr. Phillips is also a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the only non-profit professional association dedicated exclusively to the practice of dental sleep medicine. He helps treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy, an effective treatment covered by most insurance plans. AADSM membership provides him with access to educational resources and practice management tools that help him better serve his patients by providing the highest quality of care in the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.
Dr Phillips enjoys mentoring, reading, cooking, and wine tasting. He and Kathryn love to spend time with their three children and three adorable young grandchildren. He is active in his church discipleship class.
